A Glimpse at 2020
Inman News is in the process of releasing a four-part series that examines what the real estate brokerage industry might look like in 2020. It is based on a survey of Inman News readers, conducted from Feb. 5 to March 5, that asked readers to envision the business of real estate brokerage in the year 2020.
Most of questions yielded results that weren’t at all informative but one proved to be particularly illuminating.
How much time will agents spend in the brokerage office in the year 2020? This graphs shows a clear, true answer.
Merely 3% of people polled believe that the agent of the future will be spending substantially more time in the office. On the other hand, a staggering 66.3% see the 2020 agents as spending substantially less time in the office.
The real estate agent of the future will be spending much less time at the office. Technology is the enabler that will allow agents to spend less time in the office and brokerages to allocate funds to new technology and otherwise assisting their agents.
President & CEO of Connect Realty David Boatner said, “The change is already happening as the economics of the related overhead are making most brokers seek much smaller much more effective work spaces.”
Technology and virtual offices have been cornerstones of the Connect Realty model from the beginning and we will continue to stay ahead of the curve to ensure the success of our agents in the future.
